Still Becoming…

Every day brings a wave of news. Some stories slip by, some make us stop, and a few touch us deeply. Not long ago, I found out that someone I had just seen had passed away. I felt sad, as anyone would. My mind went to their loved ones, the conversations we never finished, and the children still looking for comfort.

Many people find comfort in knowing that life is short and that meaning can go beyond what we see. But even without spiritual beliefs, we can find meaning in the present. What we leave behind—our words, kindness, and attention—becomes a living legacy. As Marcus Aurelius said, “What we do now echoes in eternity.” These echoes are not stone monuments, but memories of care.

We often learn important lessons from grief. Call someone sooner than you meant to. Be generous with your words. Make time instead of excuses. Try to leave places and people better than you found them. Real presence matters more than any memorial. A good life is not about how long we live, but how much we help others—family, friends, and even people we may not notice.

When people outside the family feel the loss, it shows a life lived with care and responsibility. Philosopher Albert Camus wrote, “Real generosity toward the future lies in giving all to the present.” This is what we are called to do each day.

Perhaps it is not the end, but an invitation to endless becoming. Each message of loss carries a quiet motivation: to live better, love more deeply, and choose presence today.

Wishing you peace and love.
