The Gentle Stillness

Many people view silence as a sign of weakness or avoidance, but it can be a wise choice. Sometimes, staying quiet helps prevent problems from getting worse. In many relationships, choosing not to react right away can help things last longer.

Silence can look different in our lives. Vak Mounam, or the silence of speech, is the most basic form. It means pausing before saying something hurtful and using self-control to protect both people. This might be as simple as counting to ten, waiting before you respond, or staying quiet when emotions run high. Often, choosing silence is a sign of good judgment.

Mano Mounam, or the silence of the mind, is a deeper kind of quiet. It means calming your worries, inner arguments, and imagined problems. Mindfulness teaches us that a calm mind helps us think more clearly. Simple habits like slow breathing, walking without your phone, or writing down your thoughts without judging them can help you feel more balanced.

There is also Maha Mounam, a lasting inner stillness that remains steady whether you are praised or criticised. This kind of calm shows emotional maturity. It means you respond thoughtfully rather than react quickly, and you choose to be aware rather than act on impulse.

Silence is not about avoiding others. It is about finding strength inside yourself. Simple habits, such as pausing before you speak, calming your mind before making decisions, and letting stillness guide you, can have a significant impact.

Sometimes, the best thing you can do is simply stay still.

    Good Morning 🌅
Love to read your little story first thing in the morning and I try to observe the idea if possible. Today’s topic is actually very interesting and important every one should follow and it can prevent many problems and save lives. “Pause to react”.
Wishing you all the best and success with your journaling and Journey 🙏

    With prayers
